What is Skin Botox?

The Korean secret to pores so small they disappear in natural light.

Skin botox(microbotox, baby botox, or mesobotox) is a specialized technique where diluted botulinum toxin is injected at multiple superficial points across the skin's surface — not into facial muscles. This shrinks sebaceous glands, reduces pore visibility, and controls excess oil. The result is the glass skin glow that defines Korean beauty — smooth, refined, luminous. Full face treatment from ₩50,000 (Korean Standard) to ₩200,000 (Dysport).

Microbotox.

How it works

The science ,
simplified.

Understanding the mechanism helps you set realistic expectations and choose the right brand for your goals.

01

The microinjection technique

Unlike traditional botox (deep into muscle), skin botox uses dozens of tiny injections just beneath the skin surface. Each injection delivers a very small dose — too low to affect muscle function, but enough to affect skin-level glands.

02

Sebaceous gland reduction

The diluted toxin affects sebaceous (oil) glands in the dermis, reducing oil production. Less oil = smaller pores = less shine and acne susceptibility.

03

Surface muscle relaxation

Superficial 'frown' muscles that pull skin downward are subtly relaxed, creating a smoother resting skin surface without compromising facial expression.

04

Glass skin result

Within 1–2 weeks, skin texture refines. Pores appear smaller, oil production is controlled, and the face reflects light evenly — the 'glass skin' look. Results last approximately 3 months.

Frequently asked

Skin Botox
questions.

How much does skin botox cost in Busan?
At JRYN Seomyeon, skin botox full face: Korean Standard ₩50,000, Coretox ₩80,000, Dysport ₩200,000, Allergan ₩99,000 (1cc). For targeted spot treatment (e.g., T-zone only), prices start at ₩20,000 for Korean Standard. Most patients do 3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart, then maintenance every 3 months.
How is skin botox different from regular botox?
Regular botox targets muscles deep beneath the skin to reduce wrinkles. Skin botox (microbotox) uses diluted doses injected just beneath the skin surface to shrink sebaceous glands and refine pore size. Skin botox does NOT affect facial expression — you won't look 'frozen.' Both can be done together.
When will I see results?
Pore tightening begins at 1 week and peaks at 2 weeks. Oil control is noticeable from day 3–5. For optimal glass skin effect, 3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart are recommended, then maintenance every 3 months.
Does skin botox help with acne?
Yes — by reducing oil production, skin botox can help mild to moderate acne, especially oily-skin-related breakouts. It is NOT a replacement for severe acne treatment. We often combine with LED therapy, salicylic peels, or oral medication for comprehensive acne management.
Will I look frozen or unable to smile?
No. Skin botox uses doses 10–20× smaller than traditional muscle botox, and is injected at the skin surface level — not into facial muscles. You will retain full facial expression, including smiling, frowning, and raising eyebrows.
Can I combine skin botox with regular botox?
Yes — this is actually the most popular combination at JRYN. We often treat the forehead, glabella, and crow's feet with traditional wrinkle botox for wrinkle smoothing, AND skin botox on the rest of the face for pore and glow. Results complement each other beautifully.
How long does skin botox last?
Skin botox lasts approximately 3 months per session. Korean Standard may last 2–3 months; Allergan lasts up to 3 months. After 3 initial sessions spaced monthly, you can maintain results with 1 session every 3 months (4 times per year).
Is skin botox safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. Because the doses are diluted and injected superficially, skin botox is generally well-tolerated by sensitive skin. For rosacea-prone patients, we recommend starting with a small test area during the first consultation.
Can skin botox be combined with lasers or facials?
Yes, but timing matters. We recommend spacing as follows: laser/peel FIRST, then skin botox 2 weeks later. For maintenance, skin botox can be done same-day as HydraFacial or LED therapy. Avoid aggressive resurfacing for 2 weeks after skin botox.
Do you offer English-speaking consultations for skin botox?
Yes. JRYN Seomyeon offers consultations in English, Japanese, and Chinese. Skin botox is one of our most popular treatments for foreign patients seeking the 'glass skin' effect. We'll analyze your pore size and oil production levels and recommend a personalized protocol.
