What is Sofwave?

All the lifting, with significantly less of the pinch.

Sofwave uses Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam (SUPERB™) technology to deliver ultrasound energy in a continuous strip pattern at mid-dermis depth (1.5mm). This differs from traditional HIFU (Ultherapy/Shurink) which uses focal point heating at deeper SMAS depth. The result: comparable lifting effect with significantly improved comfort during treatment. Sofwave is FDA-cleared for facial and submental lifting. JRYN pricing: ₩900,000 (100 shots) to ₩2,100,000 (300 shots).

How it works

The science ,
simplified.

Understanding the mechanism helps you set realistic expectations and compare with alternatives.

01

SUPERB™ parallel beam technology

Instead of single focal points, Sofwave uses 7 ultrasonic transducers that deliver synchronous parallel ultrasound beams — heating a 'rectangle' of tissue uniformly at the precise mid-dermis depth (1.5mm).

02

Mid-dermis collagen targeting

Energy is concentrated in the mid-dermis where collagen and elastin are most abundant. Heating to 60–70°C contracts existing fibers and stimulates new collagen production over 8–12 weeks.

03

Built-in cooling for comfort

Sofwave's tip has integrated cooling that protects the skin surface during treatment. This makes Sofwave significantly more comfortable than traditional HIFU — patients report 3–4/10 pain vs Ultherapy's 5–7/10.

04

Visible improvement over months

Initial mild tightening at 2 weeks. Progressive improvement at 4–8 weeks. Peak result at 3 months. Effect lasts 12–18 months — comparable to Ultherapy duration.

Frequently asked

Sofwave
questions.

How much does Sofwave cost in Busan?
At JRYN Seomyeon, Sofwave pricing: 100 shots ₩900,000, 200 shots ₩1,600,000, 300 shots ₩2,100,000. Prices use authentic Sofwave Medical cartridges. The treatment is comparable in cost to Ultherapy.
Sofwave vs Ultherapy — which is better?
Different approaches. Ultherapy targets deeper SMAS layer (4.5mm) with focal points — stronger lifting but more painful. Sofwave targets mid-dermis (1.5mm) with parallel beams — better skin texture and comfort, slightly less deep lifting. For mild-moderate aging, Sofwave is excellent. For deeper sagging, Ultherapy may be more effective.
How long does Sofwave last?
Sofwave results last 12–18 months — comparable to Ultherapy. Initial improvement visible at 2 weeks, peak result at 3 months. Annual maintenance recommended.
Is Sofwave more comfortable than HIFU?
Yes — significantly. Sofwave has built-in cooling and uses parallel beams instead of focal points. Most patients rate Sofwave 3–4/10 vs Ultherapy's 5–7/10. We still apply numbing cream for added comfort.
How many shots do I need?
Standard protocols: 100 shots for targeted areas (jawline OR brow), 200 shots for full face standard, 300 shots for full face + neck + submentum comprehensive. Dr. Lee will recommend during consultation.
When will I see Sofwave results?
Initial mild tightening at 2 weeks. Visible improvement at 4–6 weeks. Peak result at 3 months when collagen production peaks. Effect maintains for 12–18 months.
Can Sofwave be combined with other lifting?
Yes. Common combinations: (1) Sofwave + Thermage FLX (different layers + technologies), (2) Sofwave + filler for volume, (3) Sofwave + EMFACE for muscle toning. Sofwave's mid-dermis focus complements deeper or surface treatments.
Is Sofwave safe for Asian skin?
Yes. Sofwave's mid-dermis depth and built-in cooling are particularly safe for Asian skin types (Fitzpatrick III–V). The parallel beam delivery reduces risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation compared to focal HIFU.
Is there downtime after Sofwave?
Zero downtime. Mild redness for 30 minutes to 2 hours. You can apply makeup after a few hours, return to work the same day, and exercise the next day.
